The Week in Review!

This past week was a nice, busy and relaxing week all in one! First we welcomed a visit from Jason's mom whom flew in on Sat and flew out today. Sunday we baptized Landree! She wore the dress that I was baptized in almost 30 years ago, the same one that Ryleigh also wore! I also found the sweater and afghan that my great aunt made for me when I was born, she is 102 years old this year and I took some pictures with the afghan as the background in her baptismal dress! Now, I just have to get her in the sweater that she made. I did however put her in a sweater that my grandma Leora and grandpa Ray got her for Christmas over her dress. Monday was her two week check up. I think I am just going to have petite little girls. She weighs 11 lbs, 5 oz and is 21.5 in. I compared her stats to Ryleigh thinking Landree was bigger as she is wearing a lot of outfits that Ryleigh did later. However, washing them must have shrunken them a little b/c Ryleigh was almost a pound bigger and an inch longer at her two month check up! Then we went shopping and got the girls and myself a bunch of clothing. I think Jason's mom had fun talking me into buying myself some clothes and actually looking at them all, I am glad I finally splurged on myself, even if just a little. We got some awesome deals at Kohls and saved around 90% on clothing for the three of us girls. I got the girls their Easter dresses, too!! Thursday we stayed in as it snowed about 4 inches. Friday was Jason's moms birthday, but Thursday Ryleigh was practicing singing to her and she got it recorded on her phone. I hope she had a good birthday. We went out to eat at Red Lobster and had a Dairy Queen birthday cake (oops, I mean a wanna be DQ, Heather Quint cake!) HAHA! We also took Ryleigh swimming and ended the night with a glass of white Riesling wine! YUMMY! And, that was pretty much our week. I hope we weren't too boring to visit!?!? Well, I will have to work on a slide show next as we got some good shots, but I am going to go hang out with Jason now, since both the girls are in bed!! Oh, and congrats to my SIL, Andie for passing her Ohio, chiro boards!

2 Months Old!

The cleaning is done, Jason got a load from the basement to the dump, pictures will be available soon (he wanted to get the basement picked up before I snapped any photos with the drywall done)! Landree is 2 months old (my how time flies and getting baptized tomorrow)! Her dress is ready to go and I even found a little sweater to wear over it with a pair of tights! I will take pictures. I also can't believe that is snowed 5-6 inches last night when it was only supposed to be 3-4 inches. Jason also got the driveway cleaned off this morning. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Photos of the past week or two!

Here is a slide show of the past week of the girls! Hard to believe that Landree is 2 months old tomorrow. I am going to go by months now as a lot of people look at me silly when I say weeks. Even when I was pregnant, I went by weeks and people would ask, "so how many months is that?" So, since tomorrow is the 21st, she is 2 months old. Crazy how time flies! I figured it out too late with Ryleigh that there was a timer on the camera and didn't get much pictures of the two of us until I found out approx when she was 4-5 months old. So, I decided to take a few shots of Landree and myself while she is still a youngen! If you notice in the pictures of Ryleigh and her robe, she is also holding the stickers she got from aunt Sarah. She had a good mail day that day. It is always fun to get something in the mail other than bills or credit card applications (which all of a sudden we are getting more of again.) Well, I need to get cleaning. I will post some of my favorite photos of the girls tomorrow in another posting. Have a great Friday!

National Engineers Week

Just found out it was national Engineers week and wanted to give a shout out to my hubby! So, hope you are enjoying your "week"! Nothing much has been going on here. The weather is playing tricks on us. It gave us a quick glimpse into the coming weeks a few days ago when it was nearly 50* out, but today it was a nice, cold, sunny 15*! I got the upper level of the house cleaned this morning while Landree napped, so that worked out well and this evening I actually feel good b/c I feel like I accomplished something! We will see how tomorrow goes as I am planning on getting the main level cleaned. Jason and I are finishing up the in and outs of the refinancing bit tomorrow, so that will be nice and we have an appt. next week to get our taxes done....another nice thing to get off the list before I go back to work! Also, before I go back to work, probably the week after next, our basement will be getting finished with taping, mudding and sanding. (I will have to do a MAJOR cleaning of the house after that)! Then the next step is painting it. Our goal (or Jason's) is to get it done by the first game of the Nebraska football season, then we can watch the game in our new home theater room and bar room!!! YEAH!! The girls are doing good. Ryleigh is excited to see Nana Peggy this weekend (so is Landree!!) It should be a fun time. Landree is getting baptized on Sunday and I am trying to finish the planning for the meal afterwards. Oh crap, I just remembered I need to call and order a cake. OOPS! Andie......we got your package.....thank you guys for the robe for her and the top for Landree...so cute! I have pictures of the robe b/c Ryleigh wore it the whole day she got it in the mail. They are funny b/c a few of them, I caught her looking and dancing in her mirror! Too cute. Ryleigh also got the stickers from aunt Sarah, thank you. I caught her putting them all over her huge bouncy ball and my exercise ball!! What I would like to know, is if Sarah and Ryan got their packages? I haven't heard and would just like to know if you got them, so please let me know! Thanks! This week, I also got the clothes that are too small for Landree packed up and got all of her clothes out up to 6 months, as I know the following few months are going to be busy. My bridesmaid dress for my brother's wedding is in, so now we just need to get Jason his tux and Ryleigh her dress and we will be set on our outfits for the day! (I need to get Landree one, too). She is getting so long. A few outfits that I have her in now didn't fit Ryleigh for another month, when Ryleigh was a baby. It's interesting how totally opposite they are. That's about all I have for now. Hope everyone has a great Friday tomorrow. I am going to hit the hay. If I get a chance, I will post pictures tomorrow as I have a lot to share since last time.

Happy Birthday to my brother Ryan. I am glad you made it home safely from your sea adventures! Just wanted to wish you the happiest birthday ever and hope you do something fun to celebrate! It was so good to see you at Christmas and I can't wait to see you again.....that will be at your wedding, right? Oh my, less than 5 months to go. I can't believe it! Thanks for being a great brother to Jason and I and a great Uncle to the girls. Ryleigh is always so excited to tell everyone who she got her care bears from and always tells everyone that Kelli made her new blanket! Hope you have a great day!

It's like the first year I haven't got cards out to anyone for their birthday's. But, since you read the blog, I just wanted to let you know I am thinking about you today and hope your day is as special as you are. Thanks for always being there for everyone. Happy Birthday to my godson and cousin, Blake. I love you and hope you have a wonderful day. I am again behind on cards this year and since I didn't get one to your sister, I thought I would just post a blog in your honor. I hope you have the best birthday ever! It was good to see you at Christmas if only for a split second. It's crazy, I remember you when you were just a little baby and now you are growing up to be a little man.

This past weekend was a good one. Our basement finally got sheet rocked on Friday. It didn't get completely done as they ran out of screws and Jason was three sheets short, but what would have taken Jason months of work, is now finished. Him and my dad did work on it some more yesterday afternoon and evening, and now it's almost completely sheet rocked. It is amazing how great it looks. I took pictures of before and I will take after ones and get them posted so you can see all the hard work Jason has been up to after the girls go to bed! Then it's time to save for the mudders, tapers and sanders!! My house is a bit dusty, so I need to dust and vacuum sometime. I didn't quite get to it yesterday. I am feeling so lazy when it comes to cleaning. It's like I see all that needs to be done and then I just don't do it. UGH! I wish I had just two hours to clean it without distractions.............haha! Oh well, I only have a short time to spend with the girls before I go back to work, so I am just trying to ignore it for now, life is so short and they grow so fast. As long as it stays picked up, I am okay. Anyways, back to Jason for now. He went to his concert on Friday with friends. What he thought was going to be a later night than what it was, turned out to be shorter and he even said, wow, my friends and I are getting older! They did have a good time and I think he enjoyed hanging out with them.

The girls and I had fun at mom and dad's! My mom made spaghetti and meatballs for supper and they were fabulous. I just relaxed and stayed warm.....and helped mom set up an email account. COOL! Getting caught up with the times is how I like to put it (wink, wink)! On Saturday before we left, my dad took a break from work and came over and we all four got little valentines from him. Mom got some nice perfume from Vicky's secret and chocolate, I got a tin heart full of chocolates, and the girls each got a book and teddy bear and Ryleigh got some candy and fruit snacks. I had the girls dressed up in some heart gear, and got one decent photo and will get it posted soon. Jason and I are planning on celebrating Heart day next week as we didn't get to, but we did have a nice catfish dinner with wine and the girls actually were pretty quiet while we had dinner, which usually doesn't happen around here at the supper table. It was fun to spend the day with the ones that I love.

Ryleigh is doing well. We need spring to come soon. She is starting to recite lines out of books and movies, a sure sign we watch and read too much. OK, I don't think you can read too much, but I am getting sick of the TV being the form of entertainment. I want to take them to the park and go for walks and all that fun stuff you do when the weather is warm. She is a a real antsy gal, so when I want to take photos, she's not really into it. I forgot to mention in my post (out of the mouths of babes) a funny thing she does. I remembered only this morning, because she did it again. When I or Jason put in our contacts she will ask us, "what are you doing?" We tell her we are putting our eyes in. So, now she will "put her eyes in" too. She even has to put a little dot of contact solution on her finger and then she gets up to the mirror and pretends to put in a contact. It is hilarious. She is very into holding Landree and Landree actually likes Ryleigh. She always is so calm in her arms and on Saturday Ryleigh even put her to sleep! She is such a good big sister and likes to help with everything. If she hears Landree cry and she's in a different room, she races to her and says, "it's okay sweetie, I am coming, or you are alright!"

Landree is doing well. She is going to be baptized next Sunday at church. She is going to wear the dress I was baptized in when I was a baby, just like Ryleigh. I just got it out of my hope chest this past weekend and it looks good so, it's already to go now. I just need to find a cute sweater to go with it this week as it is still freezing cold here. Landree continues to be such a content baby. She loves her swing! We are finally getting our nights and days back to normal. Last night I laid her down wide awake at 9:30 and had to wake her up to eat at 3:30 and then she slept until 6:50. That is how it has been going the past few nights, except last night was the first time we didn't hear a peep out of her when we laid her down. NICE! I am sure it won't be like that every time. She is getting so long. I think she is going to be tall (ok, taller than me). Her fingers and her feet/toes are sooo long. She smiles and giggles so much, just melts my heart. I have some pictures of her smiling and laughing, I will get them posted soon, too. She also loves her bath and I can always get a smile out of her just by washing her hair.

I am feeling 100% better and that's all I will say for the mastitis. I hope I never have to experience that again, it was one of the worst pains EVER, and I don't even think I had a bad case! I am just glad it's finally resolving. I am not excited about returning to work, but I go back on March 18th, so I have only a month left at home. There's really not much more going on then that. I have to run as Ryleigh is begging me for a bowl of oatmeal.

Well, the last couple of days have been spent trying to get Landree's sleep cycle back on track. For some reason (maybe the cold, my infection) she's been sleeping odd hours. It's like her day is our night, which really sucks. Especially for Jason, at least I am not working yet. So the night before last her night was from 2 am to 11 am. We decided last night to put her to bed and let her cry it out (which is one of the hardest things to do). Thankfully her cry is so sweet compared to Ryleigh's! Those colicky babies just know how to cry and make it piercing. I don't remember how old Ryleigh was until we let her cry something out, it felt like she just plain cried all the time and so we just let her cry all the time. Anyways, after about 25 minutes of Landree crying, (inside I was dying), I said to Jason, how long do you let a 2 month old cry? On one hand, we are trying to get her back into our sleeping pattern, on the other, we want to build her trust and faith in us. But she was dry and fed so we knew she was just tired. Well, Jason went and picked her up and came back downstairs not even 10 minutes later. He said when he picked her up she fell asleep, so he laid her down (this was around 10:30. And guess what..............she slept until 3:30, ate and then slept again until 6:40! That's better!!!! I am trying to keep her more awake during the day as well, hoping that by the time the evening comes, she'll be more ready for that "nighttime" sleep! Due to my infection, I have been trying to nurse her every two hours, but she is just not hungry every two hours. She is doing good and sometimes it's more like 2 1/2 hrs. During her "nighttime" sleep she goes longer, so I have been up getting rid of the milk myself every 2 hours. I just get nervous she'll wake up hungry 30 minutes after I've done this, but so far, I've been lucky. Tomorrow morning, I am planning on bringing the girls to the mall park and having lunch and then heading to St. James after that, so tonight I am going to pack a little bag for the girls that way, I don't have to worry about rushing tomorrow. Oh, and the sheet rockers were supposed to come on Wed, but cancelled until today and now we haven't heard from them, so, so far no sheet rock done. BOO HOO!! Which reminds me, I need to get down there and get some pictures before they do come. I better go do that quick just in case they do come at 1 like they are supposed to! Peggy...this last picture is what I was laughing about when I was on the phone with you........Ryleigh was pretending to ride a horse. HAHA!

Landree was up for a couple of hours during the night so I worked on this slide show then. I forgot to mention yesterday how nice it has been here. On my way to my appt. the thermometer read 47*! Although, it was rainy and windy yesterday. But, the rain is melting the snow and you can see grass in our yard (even though it is brown)! Jason and I even saw robins on Sunday morning........a good sign spring is on it's way! Yeah! I am feeling much better today, but I heard a little cough come from Ryleigh this morning....ugh oh! Please go away, I can't take much more of this cold business. Anyways, here's the slide show, enjoy:

Thank you, Thank you Mom and Dad!!

I started feeling better from my cold by Friday. My sore throat was gone (thanks for the remedy, Andie!) Friday into Saturday morning, Landree slept 7 hours straight through the night. It was nice, I think she was finally feeling better too! Saturday we met up with our friends Bill and Katie and went out for pizza with them, then to the bar for a drink and game of darts. It was Bill's 30th birthday. Thanks to my parents for watching the girls. It was my first night out since Landree joined us, and it was nice and relaxing knowing that my parents were watching her. It was also the longest I have been away from her and although I thought about her and Ryleigh the entire time, it was nice to be out with Jason. Jason and I did agree later that we like being at home with the girls and are home bodies, which we don't mind. It was nice to have all those years together hanging out and having fun before babies, but this time now is so special and we would much rather have fun here (plus, it's much cheaper!) Oh, mom and dad.................Matt and Andi started a blog to keep everyone updated on the baby. That is my cousin and his wife and they are having their first baby the end of the month! I put their site under Family and friends on the side bar, so mom and dad, if you want to keep up on it, just click on it! My dad was telling me a story yesterday about Ryleigh on Saturday. My mom was going to go play with Ryleigh so my dad was holding Landree, and Ryleigh went over to my dad and said, it's okay Landree, Papa will take good care of you! Since Landree is feeling better, we moved her into her room in the pack-n-play. We don't have a crib yet as ours was recalled, but we are in the middle of the process of getting a new one. It has been nice, since I have had a few coughing spells during the night.

Yesterday was not such a fun day. Jason has been working hard on the basement, as it is getting sheet rocked on Wednesday. He had to work on plumbing this weekend, so Saturday and Sunday he had the water off, then on Sunday there was a leak, so it was off longer than we wanted. And, it would not have been so bad except for I was feeling like crap. I spiked a temp of 103.5 and felt like crap with the worst headache I have ever had in my life and I was just achy. Well, earlier that morning, Ryleigh kneed me in the chest and about 5 hours later I noticed it hurt like hell, then shortly after that I spiked the temp. I was just shaking from the chills so bad. I wasn't for sure if it was related to my cold or what was going on, but I called the lactation specialist on call, just to ask her opinion on whether she thought it was mastitis or not. My temp. was going down by the time I went to bed, but when I rechecked it in the middle of the night it had gone back up to 104. I knew the fever was probably stealing all the liquids, so before I had gone to bed, I drank four glasses of liquids, then during the night I drank a huge pitcher of water, and have been drinking tons of water since. Well, I called the dr. this morning, as I was still running a temp and I had more symptoms than yesterday and they got me in to see him, and sure enough, I have mastitis. OMG.........I would much rather go through labor again (wink wink). I never had this with Ryleigh, and I hope it goes away quick b/c it is some of the worst pain ever and it looks awful. I have finally been fever free for the whole afternoon and evening. Jason stayed home from work to watch the girls. I slept in between feeding Landree until I had my Dr.s appt. Thank you so much Jason, I don't know what I would have done if you weren't there to help me today. It felt really good to get all that sleep, too! I am looking forward to this Friday. Jason and a bunch of his buddies are going to a concert here in Mankato. The one band I know for sure is Papa Roach. They are all going to be spending the night here at our place, so the girls and I are going to my parents and spending the night there. It will be a lot of fun. I just hope all the guys are safe. Well, it's been nice to blog now that I am feeling better because I sure in the heck didn't feel like blogging yesterday or this morning.

Sick :(

Yes, it's true, I have been sick all week. YUCK! I had a sore throat which I blamed on the cigarette smoke, and now I am thinking it was this cold the whole time. Yesterday, I lost my voice and anytime I did start talking to anyone I would start this coughing session that seemed to last forever. I have been drinking tons of OJ and water and smoothies (they make my throat feel better) so to not slow down on the milk production. And drinking stuff is just not the funnest thing to do when your throat feels like crap. I can honestly say it has been ages since I have been sick....I know more than a year. And, like I always say when I get a cold, I'd much rather have the 24 hour tummy flu b/c at least I know that doesn't last a week to possible weeks. I don't think I got it from anyone in NE as you are usually exposed to the cold virus at most a week before the symptoms show up. Ryleigh and Jason have been feeling good, but Landree must have caught a little something, too. Every morning this week we have been taking hot steamy showers in the morning together, and I get tons of boogers out of her nose and then she is good the rest of the day. I have become a professional booger sucker user!! Her boogers are funny too, so that she can breathe, they come out looking like straws...yep, they are hollow. We are both feeling MUCH better this morning. It has really thrown off her sleep pattern, too. In fact, a couple of nights ago, we both slept in the recliner upright for a few hours so we could breathe. And, we broke out the humidifier this week too hoping to keep this at bay. I just am praying I can keep this under control so it doesn't turn into something more. I have a baby stethoscope and her lungs are clear and so far neither one of us has had a fever, so it's just a case of a bad cold. Landree must also be going through a growth spurt or her body is trying to get over this thing. She has been sleeping more and eating more. For the last week, she has been eating on both sides unlike a few weeks ago, when it was she was alternating with one side. She sometimes will get full on the second side and I have to finish by pumping and then, I am still getting at least 2 oz. She had a little bit of some stomach issues last evening, and I did my massage stuff that I used to do with Ryleigh that the massage therapist taught me and within 10 minutes she was good and happy. I also was taught some pressure areas to help babies pass gas and pooh. Well, already since I have massaged her, she has had 3 dirty diapers!!!! Yeah, I haven't lost my touch! Last weekend while we were in NE, MN temps went above freezing for the first time since Nov.! Yesterday it was beautiful getting to 38* and today the high is 41*. This weekend is supposed to be nice, too. Our friends that got married in Sept. and moved to Sioux Falls are here this weekend and I think we are going to go bowling with them tomorrow if I am feeling better. I just found out she is expecting and is 12 weeks along. Congrats to Bill and Katie on the fabulous news!! Oh, and despite this nasty cold, I have started working out this week. Since I haven't felt like jogging or walking fast (I'd probably die from coughing), I started the toning portion of my working out! I think I overdid it on Monday with the push ups, because on Tuesday, I was so sore. I just want to get rid of this thing around my midline, so sit ups are like my best friends! Even Landree is getting her excercising in. She does a few sit ups as well, then tummy time, the some pumping of her legs. She is starting to like to stand on her legs but just for a few seconds. I don't want to leave Ryleigh out either, she is doing well and does push ups as well. She is coming up with all kinds of new things to say. Her latest word....AWESOME! Well, I am going to go feed Landree as she is calling for me. I promise to get some pictures posted soon of the girls! HAPPY TGIF!!

Christmas with the Dinslage's!!

So, we had a wonderful time in Nebraska! We had Christmas with the Dinslage's (that is my moms family). It was bittersweet, as I was with family, but my Grandma wasn't there. We did get to visit her in the nursing home and she was having a good morning. Mom, Landree and I went to see her on Saturday morning. She enjoyed Landree so much and held her for an entire hour. I DIDN'T want to leave her. I told mom that I could spend all day there with her. I almost cried but held it in until Jason and I were driving home and he asked how my visit went. I told him that my Grandma was so sweet and holding Landree and I was kneeling down by the chair with them and my Grandma looked at me and said she didn't know how anyone could ever hurt babies because they are just so precious. She leaned over to me and smiled so, I reached over a gave her a big hug and kiss and her smell brought back tons of memories of her. I held back the tears right then and there to not confuse her or upset my mom, but when I was telling Jason about the visit and that moment, I started crying....and I cry now as I write and think about it. It's amazing how she smells the same after all these years. Then when I was hugging my Grandpa, I smelled him too, and he hasn't changed either. My Grandma remembered who my mom was and exactly what to do with a baby, it was a good morning. She looked really nice too and asked me if I knew why she was there. When I told her because she broke her hip, she told me that I was right and that it was the worst pain she had ever had. I got a few pictures with her and Landree and I got 4 generation photos with my Grandma Leora, Grandpa Ray, and Grandma Mary. Saturday morning we also took my Grandma Mary Zabka out to eat. It was fun to see her, she cracks me up. Ryleigh made her a snowman for her front yard. It was about 55 degrees, so Jason and my dad had a snowball fight and then my dad helped Ryleigh build the snowman. And none of them were in coats. So, it is kind of funny to see them building this snowman in there shirts. And let me just say, I am a huge fan of the smoking laws in MN. It is enjoyable to go into a bar, restaurant or any public place and not have to smell it while trying to enjoy food. I guess the banning of smoking has passed in Neb too, but doesn't take effect until the end of Feb. I felt awful exposing my babies to the smoke when we went out to eat. In fact, that is what I am blaming this sore throat that I have, on! It was good to see all of my moms family. Ryleigh had a fabulous time, in fact there were so many kids around her age, that she played and played and played and we hardly heard anything out of her except her constant giggling and when we would check on her she had this glitter in her eyes. She also enjoyed her gifts. She got a my little pony which she had to sleep with on Sat night and the movie Tinkerbell from my grandparents. Landree got tons of outfits from her great aunts and cousins as well as some toys. We also got some pictures of the newest additions to the family (all three girls: Brooklyn 6mo's, Ella 2 1/2 mo's and Landree)! We were counting and my grandparents have 5 great grandsons with one due in April and 8 great granddaughters and then a surprise due the end of May, beginning of June. Both girls did great when it was time for bed. Ryleigh didn't fight us once (I think b/c both nights it was late and she was tired). Landree didn't want to go to sleep on Friday night but I think b/c she was in the car all day, but Saturday night I had to wake her up to feed her. They both did great on the 5 hour trip both ways as well. We didn't hear one peep out of Landree and Ryleigh really did do a great job for being 2. She loved watching the movies and once I showed her what the headphones did for sound she liked watching them even more. In fact, when we forgot she would request them saying, "mommy, I need the phone heads!" I love how she calls them "phone heads"! For Christmas supper on Saturday evening we had soups. There were 6 different kinds (sausage, chili, taco, cheesy potato, ham and bean, and creamy shrimp). My favorites were ham and bean, taco and the shrimp one. YUMMY! My mom was telling me that my aunt Lisa came up with the idea so that when they had leftovers they would freeze them for meals for my Grandpa. AWESOME IDEA!! He definitely has a few meals for a while and he loves soups!! Mom and dad drove with us to split gas and it was a lot of fun and a lot of help. Groundhog Day!

We're back from Christmas with the Dinslages!!! We had fun and I will post the weekends events soon. I am pretty sure the groundhog saw his shadow this morning as the sun was shining beautifully today. Unfortunately that means more winter for us for six weeks and since Landree is six weeks old yesterday that means winter will be for the rest of my time off of work. Yuck! Oh well, that means spring is right around the corner. What's rather funny about today is that just last week Jason said he felt like he was living Groundhog day every day. He thinks it's winter and can't wait for it to get warmer so we can get the girls out of this house, I am just thankful it's not being married to me that makes him feel like that!! HAHA! He hasn't seen the movie completely only parts of it. I think the movie gets annoying and I used to hate it when I was younger.
